| "Tips for bringing in files for the Indigo Press" |
Digital technology is the future in the printing industry, and Acorn has already moved ahead with the HP Indigo Ultrastream 2000. Now you can print short runs of all your sales and marketing materials directly from your desktop file without plates or lengthy press preparation. However, there are some things you need to consider when preparing your files for Indigo jobs. Here are some tips that will help your files pass preflight and obtain the best-printed results:
1. For optimal results with Indigo, use QuarkXpress. If you're not using Quark, it's best to convert your file to a PDF file. This minimizes the number of issues that can negatively affect a job. Please go to our
FTP site and download our PDF creation kits for both Mac and PC. By submitting PDF files, you will expedite your proofs and final print run.
2. For optimal results when supplying image files, pictures should be saved in EPS or TIFF formats at 300 dpi. They should also be in the CMYK colorspace
3. Create documents to size in single pages with at least 1/8” bleed for elements that print to the edge of the piece. There's no need to make special allowances.
4. Send all support files and font types, as well as a marked-up laser hard copy.
5. Please include a printed directory when submitting files on disk. This will help to pass the preflight process.
6. If your job requires personalization, consult Acorn before preparing your database. When you are personalizing your job, it should be submitted as QuarkXpress files. If you are unable to submit Quark files for a job that personalizes, please contact your Acorn Representative for solutions on processing other file formats.
